This is one of the most sizeable churches in the Medieval City of Rhodes. Located on Ippodamou street, it was built in the late 15th century, as per estimates having relied on the architectural style followed for the construction of this church as well as on certain similarities of its concept to such other specimens of that particular period as the Inn of the French Tongue and the residence of Prince Cem.
In the years of the Ottoman rule, the church was converted to a mosque, given the name of Takkeci Cami; the prayer hall (mihrab) and the minaret are additions dating from that time.
