The Public Baths of the Medieval Town are located on Arionos square, next to Sultan Mustafa mosque. Erected at the time of the Ottomans, in the 16th century, these Baths were operational until recently. Their construction was developed in two stages, with an addition for female bathers added in the 18th century that brought the overall surface covered by the complex to something more of 1000 square meters.
The ottoman name under which the premises have always been known in Rhodes, “Yeni Hamam” signifies “New Baths”, although no other facility of similar or identical use have been known to have existed within the Medieval Town of Rhodes.
